Out West BBQ was founded by Compton, California native, Corey Jones (also know as BEANZ to his friends and family).
Corey's love for barbecue began as a 2 time NCAA College Football Player in Tennessee, where many of his teammates introduced local and authentic "Mom and Pop" Memphis style barbecue. Following his relocation to Arizona and purchasing his first smoker, a new passion for cooking emerged.
"I became obsessed with cooking. Researching, and learning about different woods and flavor profiles became a daily thing, along with watching barbecue shows and Youtube channels."
After a 7+ year course of cooking and perfecting his innovative flavor profile, Corey embarked on a new venture. Out West BBQ pays homage to both his Southern California roots and the Memphis "Mom and Pop" BBQ establishments, while bringing a modern flare. Introducing premium quality meats; slow smoked to perfection, accompanied by mouth-watering sides specially named after his loving daughters, fresh ingredients, and vibrant bold spice blends.
"In my professional career as a school psychologist and doing contract work with the court system, I learned that labels matter. I don't want to be labeled as the same bbq style as many other bbq legends and restaurants, respectfully. There is always beauty in those who dare to be different."
